During that time, he was assigned to the National Emergency Command Aircraft, 1st Airborne Command Control Squadron in direct support of "Air Force One" at Andrews AFB, Maryland. He is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) with the American Meteorological Society. He joined the KUTV 2News First Alert Weather Team in December 1989. Sterling is one of the most respected television meteorologists in the United States. “Sterling is truly one of the centerpieces that makes KUTV a special place, not only for our employees, but what he has meant to Utah,” said Kent Crawford, Senior Vice President, Group Manager, and KUTV General Manager.
